Composite Creatures
For this project the students combined the drawings of three separate toy animals into one composite creature. They looked at the Surrealist drawing game, The Exquisite Corpse, and the animal paintings of Thomas Broadbent for inspiration. The criteria they met included drawing proportionate shapes, illustrating texture, and layering colored pencil to create emphasis. They also researched the animals’ habitats to create a surreal landscape that combined aquatic, savanna and woodland biomes.
